Aethelmearc has a tradition of gifting handmade scrolls with its awards and commendations. In order to support the demand artisans are needed to create the art pieces that are awarded at every court. These scrolls can be made on any artist's medium, and often require the effort of a wordsmith, caligrapher and illuminator to create a finished piece.

===Calligraphy===
Calligraphy is a visual art related to writing and is the design and execution of lettering with a pen, ink brush, or other writing instrument.

Illumination is the art of painting images to accompany a scroll's written text.
