I’ve been in the SCA for roughly 12 years, and in that time I have; autocratted events, served in a various positions, fenced, fought, and spread mischief. I have served as; BMDL Iron Key, BMDL Chronicler, Herald for the Canton of Woods End (a new Canton in the Midrealm I helped start), the Deputy to the Aethelmearc Kingdom Seneschal for Social Media, and recently the Clerk of the Order of the Fleur.
I was fortunate to begin my SCA career in the Barony Marche of the Debatable Lands, and spent a great deal of time in the Kingdom of Aethelmearc. While finishing my mundane education, I moved to the Midrealm for a year, where I helped to create the Canton of Woods End, before returning once again to Aethelmearc in the Shire of Ballachlagen.
With regard to arts in the SCA, I have typically focused on 16th Century Ottoman research and recreation – with a dash of research on period oddities from around the world. I’ve learned/researched leatherworking, how to make inlaid leather slippers/shoes, recreated a talismanic shirt using period pigments, and learned how to recreate Turkish ebru (marbled effect on thickened water). I am currently researching cosmetics worn in period in and around the Ottoman empire.
I’ve a tendency to be a a helper and I’ve volunteered for a variety of positions since joining. I have truly enjoyed my time in the SCA, and work to give back so that others can live the dream with me.
In the past several years i've been helping to bring Aethelmearc into the digital age, by expanind the Kingdom's social media presence and helping to create this "Unofficial AEWiki." At the start of the Great Plague in 2020 I helped facilitate the Kingdom beginning to use Zoom to incorporate more AEtherial courts and bring access to more of the populace who cannot be at in-person events. Since then, I’ve helped to run virtual events (Coronation, Virtual Courts, and local events), as well a AELive on a (typically) biweekly schedule.
