Introduction

Arianna first encountered the SCA at the Camelot Faire in Newport, RI, in the summer of 1976, but didn't join the SCA until the following July, 1977, at a demo by the Barony of the Bridge (Rhode Island). She then returned to college in western NY at what had become the Shire of the Rhydderich Hael. She served in various offices there including Pursuivant, A&S Minister, and Mistress of the Lists, becoming Seneschale in the spring of 1978 and leading the Shire to Barony status in 1979.

In the Rhydderich Hael (Buffalo, NY), she co-founded and ran the Scribal & Cooks' guilds, and co-founded and directed the Rhydderich Hael Singers (the baronial choir). From 1979 to 1986 she was an authorized heavy fighter, squired to Sir Ogami Akira. In 1983 she became East Kingdom Chronicler.

She was particularly active as a scribe from 1979 onward, serving as the editor of second edition "The Red Book" of the East Kingdom Signet Office Standards (published at 12th Night, A.S. XXV, January 1991) and Minister of Scrolls for the Principality of Æthelmearc. It was a revised edition of the earlier Blue Book of the East Kingdom Signet Office Standards, originally published in A.S. XIX (1984). At the time of publishing the Red Book, Arianna was known as the Minister of Scrolls for the then-Principality of Æthelmearc, under then-Lord Harold von Auerbach's term as Tyger Clerk of the Signet.

She has also directed and sung in multiple choirs, including directing Baronial Choirs in the Barony of the Rhydderich Hael and the Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands, the Pennsic Choir, and Chorulus Pennsicus, a select choir at Pennsic which she founded at Pennsic 41.

Arianna enjoys performing Italian Commedia del'Arte with i Genesii, the troupe located in the Debatable Lands, of which she has been a member since 2017. She has also participated in workshops at Pennsic and other events.

She was heavily involved in the creation of the Principality of Æthelmearc from 1987 to its founding in 1989, serving on the Principality Committee and as Regional Chronicler. She designed the Principality Arms chosen by the populace, which later became the Kingdom Arms: Gules, an escarbuncle argent within a laurel wreath and in chief a coronet Or.

In 2008, Arianna became a Youth Combat Marshal and served as the Debatable Lands' Baronial Youth Marshal for 8 years, then held the office of Kingdom Youth Marshal from 2016-2018, serving as Youth Marshal-in-Charge at Pennsic 47. She retired as a Youth Marshal in 2019 and from serving as Kingdom Youth Combat Webminister in 2024.

She was married to Master Johan von Traubenberg from 1990 to his passing in 2005. They have a daughter and a son who are both in the SCA: Lady Sabrina mac Éamoinn and Don Robert MacEwin of Thornhill.

Her other interests include costuming, weaving, embroidery, and organizing stuff/people.

Since 1990 she has lived in the Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands in the Kingdom of Æthelmearc. She has served in various offices there, including directing the Debatable Choir from 1991 to the present.
